Peripheral Liquid Embolic

One of the most common uses for peripheral liquid embolic in the treatment of brain aneurysms. These are weakened areas in the wall of a blood vessel that can balloon outwards, putting pressure on surrounding structures and potentially leading to a dangerous rupture. Liquid embolics can be introduced into the aneurysm through a minimally invasive procedure, where they will solidify and effectively seal off the vessel, reducing the risk of a rupture. Flowability refers to the ability of a liquid embolic agent to flow easily through vessels during administration. Lava^TMperipheral liquid embolic agents are made up of a high viscosity polymer that is suspended in a low viscosity carrier. The high viscosity of the polymer ensures that the embolic agent will not dislodge or migrate once it has been deposited in the target vessel. The low viscosity of the carrier ensures that the embolic agent will flow easily through small and tortuous vessels, allowing for precise intraoperative control.
